Who can i get to care for my pet if I get into an accident?

November 112009

I have 2 cats. I do not have close family in the same city, and I do not have friends who are close enough for me to ask such a favour.

I have been thinking a lot lately about accidents and came up with some "what if" questions.
What if I was in the hospital? Is there a service where they can visit your home to care for pets?
What if I was unconscious for a few days and not able to arrange for anyone to feed my cats and clean their litter?
What if I suddenly died?

Does anyone have somethign organised for their pets?

RSPCA have a program that is like private health cover but for pets. You pay about $30-$45 a month and it covers them for injuries, general check-ups and even if you have to go to hospital.

If you don’t want to go that way, either your vet or animal league will look after them if something happens.

I own a doggy day care business and i had one client who left their pet for 1 week and never paid. what should

November 92009

i do?
All i have on them is there name, address, and phone number. My employee did not take a credit card number because they said they were going to pay in cash, and most clients pay by credit card. So when they came to pick up their dog they said i had their credit card on file but turns out i didnt. So they left with their dog without paying. I have left a numerous amount of voice mails on their cell phone but no answer. My cousin told me i could report them to a credit agency but my question was how can i if i do not have any credit information on them? Or are there any other possible ways i can get my $600 from them?

.Live and learn Remember this and let it be a $600 lesson.

My pet goldfish Lou and his wife decided to send their children to the day care. Must I pay for it?

No..that’s their decision.
Although to be nice you might want to provide transportation between tanks..

Is it possible to get employed somewhere that requires experience, but you haven’t had experience?

October 292009

Has that ever happened to you? I want to work at a pet care, they do pet day-care and grooming. They also do veterinary services but I’m 17 and I know I need to go to school for that. I’m hoping they’d hire me regardless of experience because I’m home schooled and available when ever. Is it possible I could get hired?

You sound very motivated and found a place you are interested. First write a basic resume and prepare what you will say when you go to talk to the manager at the store. Dress well, in clean clothes and preferably no sneakers/jeans/short skirts. To meet employers always dress and wear makeup/hair conservatively -no revealing clothes or too much makeup.

Go in, ask to talk with manager, give him/her your resume and tell them why would be great for the job "I’m very motivated to work hard, I’m dependable and always on time, I love animals, and I’m eager to start working". Tell a story about how you helped an animal or did a good job somewhere like selling cookies at a bake sale. Think of something that you are proud of or when someone told you you did a great job.

When I interview and hire, sometimes personality wins over experience. Good luck! I would interview you, you sound awesome!

Suggestions on geriatric pet care for my 13 year old sheppard mix?

October 272009

He has four vets, accupuncture, massages, hydrotherapy, vitamins and other supplements. Pretty much the best care that he can get. I wanted to know what else could I do? He has come with me everywher since he was a puppy. He has a bike trailer,a wagon and a trailer for my riding mower. He goes to the beach twice a week, goes walking twice a day. I just wanted to know what else could be done.

wow wish I could hug you , yu sound like a fantastic owner!!!!

Have you tried glucosamine? (you probably have)

Good on you!!!

How much do I pay a 14-year old for pet care?

October 232009

He or she would come over once a day to feed our cat and clean the litter box. What should we pay per day? And would it be the same amount for an 11-year-old sibling?
We live in Wisconsin, US.

We usually take week long trips during the summer, and have our neighbors daughter feed our two dogs and cat.

All she has to do is give them their food, due to the fact that they are all outside animals, and take the mail from our mailbox to the garage.

For 7 days we give her 50.00 which is about seven dollars a day.

What are the features you can expect in a Pet Day care?

October 172009

I would expect first a greeting/business area that is open to the public. This is where the admitting of animals would occur, and the last stop the public has access to.

Beyond that I would expect several smaller rooms, one larger room, and access to an outdoor play area that is fully fenced, preferably with shade trees, shelters, grass etc.

The smaller rooms could be set up with doggie beds, couches, chairs, rugs etc., for those that need time out or a place to relax, rest or have a nap.

The larger room would be for running around, playing fetch, tag, tug, or other such rowdy games.

Access to water at all times, the understanding that all dogs be vaccinated, and that dogs with aggression or fear issues would either be isolated or muzzled.

This would be a commercial facility, catering to LOTS of dogs, not a home based facility that would only cater to a handful of dogs.

Hope that helps.

Best dog day care facility in the South Bay area?

October 152009

I am a professional pet sitter in the South Bay Cities area (Palos Verdes, Redondo Beach, etc.). I have a client who is searching for a temporary dog day care facility for her 6-month old Lab/Retriever mix.

A lot of the places should let you check them out, if you walk in and immmediately don’t like the place then it’s not the best. I would go to a dog park nearby and start asking around, they may have a board where people put their cards on and you could possibly find one through that.
Just make sure you take the time to check them out. The one I want to bring my dog to has cameras that you can watch them online with, they want you to come and see everything and bring your dog to see if it’s aggressive, at 6 months they have to be spade or neutered, and they have to have all their necessary shots…..

just start looking around. I would give you the name of this place but I live in Florida so it would be no good.
Good luck though!
