how do i start dog sitting?

August 112009

i am 13 and i want to dog sit. do you think i am to young. and how do i start a dog sitting business.
i have a lot of expirence with dogs and i love animals.

Well, first you need to be familiar with dogs just incase one of the dogs u sit is say a bulldog and u r terrified. So make sure you r really comfortable and familiar with every type of dog and the personality of each one.

Second is customers. Start off slow then make ur way into a big business. Wat I mean by start slow is babysit some of ur friends dogs or families you know dogs that u famillier with and u already know. Then ask ur costomers if they have someone they would reccommend u too and thats how u make ur business grow.

Third would probably be prices. You don’t want ur prices to be too much cause u don’t want to drive costomers away with ur pricey prices. Like I said start off slow like 5.00 and hour or 4.oo an hour. If they have more than one dog make it like 15.00 -20.00. Like something like that. Once ur business has grew then its up 2 u 2 change or keep the prices the same.

I hope this helped and I hope you have a succesful dog business. (Srry if I wrote 2 much)

Ps: I don’t think ur 2 old. I babysitt and I luv it!!.
PPS: Make sure to do it with a friend 2 that will make it more fun!!

One more thing make sure to advertise ur business with sparkly posters and attractive colors so more people will come check u out. (Make sure to have parents permission) :)

you will need experience in looking after dogs and find people you know and ask if they would like their dog to be looked after. if you dont have experience i would wait until you are a little older.

Do your parnets allow you to do dog sitting? If they do then you should do it with a friend or 2. You could put up flyers so people can see them.

I would start with dog walking, once people see that you are capable of that, they might trust you to watch their dogs for longer periods of time.

Ok, I don’t think your too young, but it might help if you have an adult or older teen to help you out. I would start by putting out signs for dog sitting with your phone number and a little bit about yourself and maybe why you are good for the job. Good Luck! ♣
