How much do people charge for dog sitting?

August 202009

Someone asked me to dog sit overnight for a week, and I’m wondering how much I should ask her to pay me. What do overnight dog sitters usually get paid? If she asks me, I don’t want to ask too much, but at the same time I don’t want to ask too little either when a higher price is reasonable.

~ I charge $7.00 for small dogs and $9-10.00 for large dogs. In my home.

I have a friend that has a full facility and staff and charges $30-35.00 a night.

I guess you charge based on how much of an inconvenience it is. If you know this person and you do not do this, it is just a favor then I wouldn’t be greedy, you will probably enjoy spending time with their dog.

I would pay 30-35 a night if it were me. It is a little more than keeping them at the vet but they will get more attention plus the dog will be under less stress.

A professional sitter will charge $15 a visit! The neighborhood pays my daughter (17 years old) about $20-25 a day.

We pay about $50 a day at a commercial doggie daycare for one beagle (NO KENNELS) and overnight boarding when we go on vacation, but they provide EXCELLENT care. If we’re only going for a couple of days, we sometimes use a neighbor kid & pay him about $20 a day to take care of 1 dog & 1 cat.

Well, it depends, do you have experience? HOw big is the dog? are you also gonna walk, bathe etc. the dog? are you gonna care for it extremely well? I’ve been a dog sitter for 2 years and I kinda have a buisness goings I started at 12 and i’m noe 14, I have difference things my custermores can ppurchase for there dogs I charge anywhere from 10-40 (per day) for a day depending on the things they wish to have done and anywhere from 20-100 for an over night vist (just for 1 night) but sesne you sound like this is your first time i’d charge $50 – $100 because a weeks is 7 days that a long time to watch a dog thats not your and thats you have to care for. Also ask the person if they’d like it bathed walked or anyhting extra? also I throw in a doggie bag when each dog goes home with a treat and toy and a few extra things if a greqat way to get repeat buiness

    HOpe I helped Hun:)

I dog-sat my neigbors puppy for severall weeks, but not over night.

I would come in the morning and feed, take to the potty, play with, and brush her and then put her in her crate and cleaned up any mess she had made and put all her toys back and theft the T.V. on for her. (This took around 2 -to- +3 hours)

Then I would come back around lunch and repeat the morning routine.

Then I would come back at around 4 pm and do the same thing.

In total I spent about +6 hours over there every day ecept saturday and sunday.

I got paid $55 a week. With an ocational tip/bonus.

I would say it would be fair to charge $75 -to- $100

    Good luck!

Depends on the geographic area you’re in and also how close is the home to your home (will you need to travel back and forth to take care of things at your house?). A friend of mine in CA (professional dog sitter) charges $18 per visit (if you were going over twice a day to let the dog out or walk it) and $40-45 a day to keep your dog at her house. Again, this is CA and everything is higher there. Also, depends on if this is a friend or just an acquaintance and if you want to give her a break on the price in case you need something down the road from her.
