One of the most important aspects of running a pet walking business is marketing and promoting your business so people know about it.

This site offers a free course that teaches you exactly how to get people to come to you:

I don't know if this is detailed enough but it involves some stuff i learnt in a marketing course.
First you need to figure out the four P's.
Product, Place, Price, Promotion.
- Your product is obviously dog walking.
- Place: you need to figure out where you are going to advertise your business, like where do you want to walk the dogs? In your area, or are you willing to travel further to walk people's dogs.
- Price: You need to figure out a price range you will charge the customer. Possibly an amount per hour, or an amount per dog.
- Promotion: I would use posters, you should include you phone number or email address to give the customers some details about your business. You might not want to include the price on the poster. Brochures are a great way of advertising a small business, you would want to put the price on that instead and deliver door to door. You could also advertise on the internet, and give details about what area you provide dog walking to.

Hopefully that was a little helpful!
Best of luck to you and your business! =)
References :
First, you should probably get a few of your friends/family to help you out, and then you should buy a couple of leashes just in case other dog-owners don't own one. You shouldn't walk a dog without a leash if you don't really know the dog.
Then, you should call the newspaper and pay for an ad in the Classifieds, or hang up posters locally around where you live, and wherever the place is that you may walk dogs at.
Put your phone number, name, spiffy pictures, a bright title-name, and hours on the poster, and if you'd like, your address.
You don't have to put the price right there-- you could probably tell the customer it when he/she calls you up.

YOU should come to the dog's house, not the other way around. Walk it around it's neighborhood, and, depending on the breed, give it the exercise it needs. And if you have any trouble with the dog, be sure to note the owner's phone number.

Hope I helped!
References :
-taps brain-

-go on computer
-print out some flayers putting your phone number on them
-go door to door to every house that you know has dogs and tell them about your business
-negotiate a really good price that's fair for both you and the customer, but mostly the customer.
-after you've got some business, and you return the dog to the house, offer to do a little more with it next time, like teaching it to lie down or something, and raise the price a little more. do this every 2 weeks or so.
-after your first customers, print out new flayers saying all the stuff you did with the other dogs. charge the same price.

good luck!
