Hi, I’m very sorry to hear this if it’s true. You say “apparently”. Is this just a rumor?
I am a huge fan and while it would seem likely in view of the fact that nothing more has been heard from Jackie for a long time I am wondering if anyone really knows the truth here? I was a bit young to have seen Jackie perform but was thrilled to meet people who had! (I live in Toronto where he performed.) Thanks.

This is fantastic!! …
This is fantastic!!!! I saw Jackie Shane perform live at the Palais Royale ( a dance Hall located on the shore of Lake Ontario on the east side of Sunnyside Swimming Pavilion). This was sometime in the late sixties and is still one the best performances I have ever attended. At that time, Jackie wore a blonde Marilyn Monroe type of wig and was the most beautiful looking person. Jackie if you are still around, please come out of hiding for your adoring fans. You are absolutely the best.

I read on another …
I read on another string (for “Any Other Way”) that Jackie is believed to have been murdered long ago in California but has never been found. Great that there is a video of Jackie singing but it sure doesn’t look like his show at the Sapphire.

Sharon, I haven’t heard from Jackie since the early seventies. He just seemed to disappear. There were rumors that he had committed suicide but I hope that isn’t true. I’m guessing he was in his late twenties back then, but of course, you never ask a lady her age.
